Occupy Wall Street, New York, NY October 2011

I went to Occupy Wall Street this weekend and shot a handful of photos... At first I was getting a general feel for the atmosphere, but later started to tap into people's stories and was intrigued by the diversity of representation and issues. I believe that no matter the condition of humanity we are photographing, finding the dignity in each person is important. That concept is entrained in my consciousness and I'm hoping while exercising my reflexes in the photographic soup of exposure, point of view, and the hunt for the 'decisive moment', that dignity is part and parcel in the intention of my captures. I will go back, no doubt; the fever pitch of energy was palpable. I have mixed feelings about what is actually happening, and while I don't agree with *every* protester's message (i.e. the Tea Party crowd), as documentation goes, I very much enjoyed being an observer and invited guest into many messages and moments. People told me their stories, were cool, kind, and accepting of the lens. More photos can be found here:
